Mario Frendo
Mario Frendo, born in Stepney within the sound of the "bow bells", began his career in show business at the tender age of four years, singing on the bus to the ‘Nag’s Head’ in North London, for any passengers that would listen!
He went on to join the ‘Old Vic Youth Theatre’, ‘The National Youth Theatre’ and eventually ‘The Anna Scher Children's Theatre School’. Finally, he went on to study musical theatre at ‘The Arts Educational’ school in London.
He then went on to perform in many major musicals both on tour, the West End, Europe, New York and Los Angeles. His credits include ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘My Fair Lady’, and ‘The Fix’.
Mario can be found on a number of albums singing backing vocals from the ‘Pet Shop Boys’ to the ‘Eurythmics’ and has sung with many major recording stars from ‘Whitney Houston’ to ‘Toni Braxton’. He has had two recording contracts under the name ‘Legato’, which allowed him to perform in Jamaica with his hits ‘Fool for your love’ and ‘Lately’.
Mario has worked with top theatre producers, musical directors and great musicians across the world, and is proud to have performed at the famous ‘Apollo Theatre in Harlem’.
Mario hopes that his enthusiasm for performing will encourage our young performers at Stage One, and that the unique training offered will springboard them into the wonderful world of musical arts and performing excellence.
Mario believes passionately in the power of music and the spoken word, and is inspired by the saying ‘God admires me when I work, but loves me when I sing!’ (unknown South African writer).
