Stage One originated as a dance production group for youngsters, first opening its doors to the community with classes in Street Jazz. It was the first school in the area to provide street dance classes with the sole aim of producing a dance show. The school began to blossom, and the productions progressed in style and theme.
Over the years, students have participated in many competitions with some outstanding performances, which have led to appearances on TV and stage. In 1996, Stage One produced its first original scripted production at the Millfield Theatre entitled ‘Trick Or Treat'. It was to be the first of many, including ‘The Jesters Ball’ ‘Club Kids’ and ‘Lost in Wonderland’. At Stage One, we actively encourage students to develop their talents, confidence and personality through imagination and creativity, which has led to many outstanding achievements/performances.
Stage One feels very proud to have seen many of its students go to top London colleges such as RADA, LAMDA and Italia Conti. Encouragement and advice is always available for our wannabe stars on the reality of professional show business!
Stage One is often contacted to present students who are suitable to audition for professional and charity work in West End Theatre Productions, Commercials, Radio, Television, Modelling, Summers Seasons, Pantomimes and events. We cater for both dedicated students who wish to pursue a career in the world of Performing Arts, and for those who simply enjoy it as a hobby or for fitness! Our weekly timetable includes well-structured classes and workshops in Urban Street Dance/Hip Hop, Ballet, Drama, Musical Theatre and Professional Teachers of Dancing (PDT) Exam work and LAMDA exam work.
